A virtual telescope for the PC developed by Microsoft Research which competes with Google Sky, relying on Hubble.

WorldWide Telescope from Microsoft Research is an ambitious and cool project from the team outside of Seattle which provides amazing access to photos taken by telescopes such as Hubble, Spitzer and Chandra.

The layout of the program is nice indeed, but what is more impressive is the amount of photography the application gives you, not unlike Google's "Sky" project which is part of Google Earth.

That aside, Microsoft WorldWide Telescope gives you access to constellations with identification, galaxies, star clusters, nebulae and more. It also provides quick access to Wikipedia so users can find out more about what they're looking at in the interface.

Microsoft WorldWide Telescope is a really cool program and it gives you a virtual tour of the known universe which amazing high-resolution photos. Definitely worth a look!
